South Kalimantan Government Facilitates Free Booth for 100 Takjil Seller

Free sales locations for takjil traders will be opened on the first day of Ramadan fast.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARMASIN -- Governor of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Sahbirin Noor prepared as many as 100 free spots or booths for traders at the Wadai (Cake) Pasar Ramadan 1445 Hijri or 2024 AD in Banjarmasin City.

According to Sahbirin Noor, in Banjarmasin, Monday (11/3/2024), the previous year Ramadan Market was built in front of the old governor's office on Sudirman Street Banjarmasin Tengah, this time in the courtyard of Sultan Suriansyah Building, on Jalan Brigjen Hasan Basri, Kayu Tangi, North Banjarmasin.

The governor said that the booths prepared in such quantity were provided free of charge to the merchants.

“We are officially open on March 12, 2024, or the first day of Ramadan 1445 AH,” he said.

He also said that the booth was prepared in shades of Banjar with wooden construction and roofed with Rumbia leaves.

“The booth is ready, intended for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), hopefully it can help them to find sustenance in this holy month,” he said.

Uncle Birin, the familiar greeting of the Governor of Kalsel, stated that the Wadai Market was built this Ramadan to stimulate the economy of the community and the region.

In addition, to help people search for an Iftar menu, mainly Banjar's typical food.

The governor also said that Ramadan Wadai Market is a tradition held every year, even becoming a culinary tour with a variety of food on offer.

“This is also a remedy for the longing of Banua (Kalsel) residents who migrate when they return to the village to enjoy various Banjar specialties,” he said again.

The governor also requested that merchants sell food menus according to their standards, so that they are affordable, so that people will visit them more often.

Head of UPT Cultural Park Kalsel Suharyati said that this Ramadan Wadai Market will be enlivened with several entertainment stages with shades of religious and regional art.

“People can be entertained while shopping in this market while waiting for the time to break the fast,” he said.
