REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas announced that 1 Ramadan 1445 Hijriyah falls on Tuesday (12/3/2024). This determination is in contrast to the Tarjah and Tajdid Assembly of PP Muhammadiyah which had previously set the beginning of the fasting month to fall on Monday (11/3/2024).

Despite the differences, according to him, Indonesian Muslims should respect each other and uphold the value of tolerance.

“There are some differences and it's just normal. However, we must still respect each other and uphold the values of tolerance so that a conducive atmosphere is created,” Yaqut said during a press conference after the Isbat hearing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office, Jl MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Sunday (10/3/2024).

He also appealed to all Muslims in Indonesia to continue to maintain security, order, maintain tolerance among themselves, and together towards a moderate and tolerant Indonesian society.

“Let us make this Ramadan a momentum of self-introspection, increase worship, and return to hand in hand after the political confrontation. The political struggle, let it pass, let's fight for fitri,” Yaqut said.
