KPK: Bribers of North Maluku Governor to be Tried in Ternate

The detention of four bribers Abdul Gani Kasuba will be handed over to PN Ternate.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Public Prosecutor at the Commission for the Eradication of Corruption (JPU KPK) handed over the files of four bribers of the inactive governor of North Maluku (Malut) Abdul Gani Kasuba to the District Court (PN) of Ternate. They are planned to stand trial there.

The bribers were Kadis Housing and Settlements of North Maluku Province Adnan Hasanudin, PUPR Kadis of North Maluku Province Daud Ismail, and two private parties Stevi Thomas and Kristian Wuisan.

“We have completed handing over the case file and the indictment with the accused Stevi C and his friends to the Tipikor Court in Ternate PN,” KPK Spokesperson Ali Fikri said in a statement in Jakarta quoted on Tuesday (5/3/2024).

With that abundance, Ali said, the detention of all four suspects became the authority of the court. They will be transferred from Rutan KPK to his other places of detention. “In the near future, the transfer of the place of detention will be carried out immediately in accordance with the determination of the panel of judges,” Ali said.

The first hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on Wednesday (6/3/2024), with the agenda of reading the indictment. As noted, the KPK identified seven suspects after Operation Hand Arrest (OTT) in the Malut and Jakarta areas on Monday (18/12/2023).

The seven suspects were AGK as Governor of Malut, Adnan Hasanudin (AH) as Housing and Settlement Cadis of Malut Province, Daud Ismail (DI) as PUPR Kadis of Malut Provincial Government, Ridwan Arsan (RA) as Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Services Agency (BPPBJ), and Ramadhan Ibrahim (RI) as his aide.

Furthermore, Exeternal Director of PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) which is a subsidiary of Harita Group, Stevi Thomas (ST) and Kristian Wuisan (KW) from private parties. In this case, Abdul Gani took part in determining who from the contractor side would win in the job project auction.

In order to realize this, Abdul Gani then instructed Adnan, Daud, and Ridwan to deliver a number of projects in Malut Province. Meanwhile, the size of road and bridge infrastructure projects in Malut province reached a budget limit of more than Rp 500 billion for the construction of the Matuting-Rangaranga road and bridge, the construction of roads and the Saketa-Dehepodo section bridge.

From a number of those projects, Abdul Gani determined the amount that would be a deposit from the contractor. Abdul Gani Kasuba, Ridwan Arsan, and Ramadhan Ibrahim, who are accused by the receiving party, are ensnared in Article 12 letter a or Article 11 of the Tipikor Act juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Stevi Thomas, Khristian Wuisan, Adnan Hasanudin, and Daud Ismail who were appointed as the donor were bound by Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of the Tipikor Act juncto Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
