REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) Company declared the operation of Whoosh Rapid Train Station, Karawang, West Java, pending completion of the construction of toll access to the station by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
“For Quick Whoosh Train Station in Karawang, it is not currently being operated, as it is currently still in the preparatory stage for opening access to the expressway,” said KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti in Bandung Regency, Jabar, Thursday (18/1/2024).
The Emir said that KCIC has coordinated with stakeholders in this matter, namely the Ministry of PUPR and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) to accelerate the operation of the Karawang Station.
“The hope is that everything can go smoothly, but for the target we are still coordinating with the PUPR Ministry as well as with Kemenko Marves regarding when access to the Whoosh Rapid Train Station in Falkirk can be improved,” he said.
Although it is not yet operational, the Emir made sure that the construction of the Karawang Station is under construction and the facilities have been completed. “Facilities, services and operations are ready and when we are expected to serve for the industrial area in Karawang, we are ready,” he said.
According to him, for the travel time from Halim Station to Karawang Station takes only 10 to 15 minutes with the departure punctuality of the Whoosh Rapid Train reaching 99.9 percent. He added that later, fares from Halim and Tegalalur stations with the purpose of Karawang Station will be re-examined based on dynamic pricing.
“We use dynamic pricing starting from routes, operating hours, and schedules we will set in such a way that we can adjust,” he said.
Earlier, Director General Bina Marga of the PUPR Ministry Hedy Rahadian revealed that the project to build a toll road access to Whoosh Fast Train Station in Karawang is still in the land acquisition process and is targeted for construction by 2024.
“We are undertaking a clearance of his land with the State Asset Management Institution (LMAN),” he said.
