Today, Hyundai Engineering & Construction (E&C) has moved rapidly developing its renewable energy brokerage and trading business as well as the construction of next-generation nuclear power plants, including small nuclear reactors. Hyundai Motor and Kia are also actively working to reduce carbon emissions in manufacturing processes.

These efforts involve significant increases in the use of renewable energy, including the implementation of solar power generation systems at domestic and overseas production sites, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. Hyundai Motor and Kia also recently signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Hyundai E&C to acquire renewable solar energy.

Hyundai is also actively promoting the circular economy by establishing a system of domestic and international cooperation to create a circular ecosystem for EV batteries and expand the use of recycled plastics.

In running these sustainability efforts, Chung also emphasized the level of customer satisfaction and trust that comes from significant quality. “In the end, it is quality that will win the trust of customers. The quality of products and services should always exceed customer expectations. We must not compromise on quality, because only companies that are earnestly committed to quality will survive. We must strive to differentiate ourselves by adding value to our solutions and trying harder to provide the highest satisfaction for customers,” he said.

Furthermore, Chung emphasizes the sense of security as the third direction of sustainability saying, the knowledge and information we have accumulated over the years are the drivers of its competitiveness in this era of the fourth industrial revolution. It is everyone's responsibility to strengthen the system that protects our corporate intellectual assets.
