REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prayer is an obligation for a Muslim. In fact, even prayers performed by worshippers can earn greater rewards for those who do it.

Allah (swt) said: “And pray, pay zakat, and recite with those who have sinned. (QS al-Baqarah: 43).

The meaning of the above verse is that you should pray together with those who practice prayer.

As described in the historical hadith of Bukhari and Muslims, the Messenger of Allah said, “I really wanted to send a person so that prayer was established, then I sent someone to imprison people, and then I brought firewood with some people to a people who did not attend prayers, so I burned their houses.“

However, have you ever, in prayer, found the priest wrong in his reading? Based on Muhammad Nashiruddin Al-Bani's book The Nature of Prayer, if we find this, then we should correct the reading.

Like a story narrated by Abu Daud, Ibn Hibban and Thabrani narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) commanded to correct the wrong imam in his reading of the Qur'an.

He used to pray in prayer and was wrong in his reading. Then a wealthy man named Ubay asked him, “Do you pray with me? “asked the Messenger of Allah.

Then, Ubay replied, “Right.“

Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, “Why not correct my wrong reading?“

Thus, the Prophet (peace be upon him) once made a mistake in reciting the Surah of the Quran when he was preaching to his worshipers. However, he asked his courtiers to correct his reading.

Thus, if we are in the same position as Ubay, then we should try to correct the recitation of the priest that we follow in his prayer.
