REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The title of a mother in Islam is very noble. Even the degree of a mother is higher than that of a father.

National preacher Mamah Dedeh explained that Islam is a religion that greatly glorifies women. One of the proofs is the existence of the name of one of the Surahs in the Quran which means female.

“What is the evidence? In the Qur'an there is a letter called An-Nisa, which means female. It doesn't even have his name Ar Rijal (male), right?” Mamah Dedeh said when contacted by Republika.co.id, Thursday (21/12/2023).

He explained that before the Islamic treatise came and was delivered by the Messenger of Allah, women among Arab societies were often treated as commodities or dishonorable. But when Islam came, Allah sent the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to deliver treatises containing many treatises on women's rights.

Even God directly glorifies the degrees of women, especially mothers, over those of a father. It is as mentioned in the Shahih hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah. “Of Abu Hurairah, he said: 'A man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who is the one to whom I have the most right to serve you? And the Apostle said, “Your mother.” He asked again: 'then who? The Messenger of Allah replied: 'Your mother'. He asked again: 'Then who else? The Messenger of Allah replied: 'Your mother. ' Then he asked back: 'then who? The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) replied: 'Then your father. '

Not only that, the glory of women in Islam is accompanied by the rights that come with it. In Imad al-Hilali's Encyclopedia of Women, there are 29 letters in the Quran concerning women's rights. In one of his letters, there is more than one verse that mentions this right.

Not to mention the positions, degrees, and rewards and promises of God regarding women which are spelled out in the Quran. It is clear, then, that Islam is a religion that upholds the glory and rights of women.
