REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Alms Agency (Baznas) in cooperation with the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) delivered 50 tons of Palestinian humanitarian aid by ships. This was confirmed by head of Baznas, Noor Achmad at Kolinlamil Command Headquarters in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/11/2023).

“The aid that we will send through the Navy ships to Palestine is 50 tons more. If I may, we will add more,” Noor said.

According to Noor, the aid to Palestine weighing 50 tons is from Indonesians, including 50 trucks from the Indonesian military.

“Baznas will channel aids from various parties to the Palestinians, including from the Indonesian miltary as many as 50 trucks that have now been prepared,” he said.

Noor said the aid delivery would not start immediately at the 50-ton shipment, but would continue to deliver aid through later stages.

“To this day, we still receive the distribution of aid from Indonesians who care deeply about Palestinians,” Noor said.

Noor detailed that 50 tons of humanitarian aid was collected in no more than 10 days. The 50-ton relief was in the form of blankets, clothing, and food focused on women and children.

“Due to the winter in Palestine we are sending aid in the form of blankets and clothes, including baby and children's clothes. We will continue to send help, not just stop here,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Maritime Potential Service of the Navy Brigadier General Gatot Mardiyono expressed his gratitude to Baznas for entrusting the delivery through the vessels of the Indonesian Navy.

“I represent the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy expressing our thanks. We are being honored for the cooperation and assistance provided by Baznas through the Indonesian Navy,” he said.

Gatot added that the reception and delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians was still open until November 20th, 2023. He said that for communities or agencies that want to participate, there is still time left during the week.

“Thank God today we collected winter supplies, medicines, and food from Baznas which are very useful for our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” he said.
