REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWAKARTA -- PT PLN (Persero) Group through its subsidiary, PLN Batam collaborated with PT Aruna Cahaya Pratama (Aruna PV) in the construction of Indonesia's largest groundmounted solar power plant. It is project a capacity of 100 Megawatt peak (MWp).
This cooperation is a form of PLN collaboration with private parties to support reducing carbon emissions, while improving industrial competitiveness, Jisman P Hutajulu, Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Economic Affairs said in the launched. As the project is a concrete form of synergy between the government, state-owned enterprises, and private companies, Indonesia moves forward realizing clean energy supply.
“This event is a historic milestone and is a real proof of the synergy between governments, state-owned enterprises and private companies in the provision of electric power through renewable energy,” Jisman said, citing a written statement on Saturday (28/10/2023).
He appreciates the formation of collaboration and hoping to see the next similar the project in future. This should be as an example for the development of new renewable energy in the country.
“Us, from the government, very much appreciate this collaboration, everyone has a role, this is a good example for similar projects in the future,” he said.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said, in the midst of the warming climate, of course, joint efforts on a global level are needed.
“So, we have a common mission to save the earth, but on the other hand also maintain economic growth, create jobs, and invigorate people,” Darmawan said.
This power plant development project is also PLN's support in promoting industrial competitiveness. Amid the current global demands to shift to clean energy, domestic industries also need green electricity supplies so that the resulting products have added value.
“The electricity that is at the heart of the economy does not only stop at reliable electricity flow, but also to increase competitiveness. PLN fully supports Indonesian industry to grow through environmentally friendly electricity supply,” Darmawan said.
This cooperation in the development of a 100 MWp power plant will use about 170 thousand solar panel modules with groundmounted or ground mounted systems. It spreads over five sites in an area of more than 85 hectares in the Bukit Indah Industrial City Area.
Aruna PV President Director Audwin Purwadi said that the industrial area of Kota Bukit Indah is a growing industrial area. Today, many multinational companies require clean electricity supply as one of the conditions for running company operations.
“This power plant development project can be implemented because PLN gives the opportunity to establish cooperation in the utilization of new renewable energy. PLN's cooperation with Aruna in this project is also supported by PT Tatajabar Sejahtera (TJS) as offtaker, as well as PT Besland Pertiwi as owner of the project land,” Audwin said.
The construction of this power plant, Audwin added, will create a substantial economic impact, as it can create jobs, provide local business opportunities, and support economic growth in the surrounding region.
“The construction of a power plant with a capacity of 100 MWp is a manifestation of our commitment to the country to be a pioneer in the use of renewable energy sources and to play a role in the transition to more sustainable energy sources,” he concluded.
