REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Prabowo Subianto said that the  government will write off the debt of People's Business Credit (KUR) for Aceh farmers affected by floods and landslides.

“Then the debts of KUR, because this is a natural state, yes we will erase it,” Prabowo said in a press statement during a review of the Teupin Mane bailey bridge, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, Sunday (7/12/2025).

Prabowo said the write-off of the KUR debt was done because this disaster was a forced or force majeur natural state. So farmers do not have to worry about the ability to repay loans.

“So farmers should not worry about not being able to repay the debt, because this is not negligence, but forced, force majeur,” the president said.

Prabowo explained that all efforts to accelerate recovery at flood and landslide disaster sites continue to be carried out, including targeted bridge repairs that could reopen in one to two weeks.

The president also received reports of damaged dams and rice fields affected.

The Head of State confirmed the Government was committed to rehabilitating the farmland and ensuring food supplies were maintained by sending supplies from other regions as long as local production had not recovered.

“Farmers don't have to worry if their fields are damaged, we will help them improve, that is our priority, also, while it is not yet complete (production), we will send food from elsewhere, there are still enough reserves,” President Prabowo said.

During his visit to review flood-affected locations in Aceh Province, the Head of State reviewed the construction of the Teupin Mane bailey bridge as a vital section connecting Bireuen and Takengon Regency in Central Aceh.

With a span of 30 meters, the temporary bridge became an important vein for restoring land access that was cut off by massive flooding and torrential river currents. Upon arrival at the site, President Prabowo directly reviewed the construction point located right on the banks of the river.

The president watched closely the operation of heavy equipment, from excavators to loaders working endlessly reinforcing the foundations and piles of elephant stones as bridge stops.

“Here we see one of the bailey bridges being worked on. They continue to work, it is expected that it will be open one week and from here we can continue to open three more bridges leading to Bener Meriah and Takengon,” the President said.

The Head of State confirmed that the government is deploying all capabilities to ensure logistical access and movement of people is restored immediately.
