REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Islam has told about fruits that have great health properties and prevent various diseases. These beneficial fruits are even mentioned in the Quran.

1. Dates and Pomegranates

Dates are mentioned 20 times in the Quran. As for the pomegranate in the Quran, Allah calls it three times. Dates and pomegranates are among the fruits of paradise that have many properties for the health of the body.

Allah (swt) said: “In the two heavens there are fruits, dates and pomegranates.” (QS. Ar Rahman verse 68)

Dates contain a high percentage of sugar (about 76 percent), and provide the body with energy and high calories, in addition to phosphorus, calcium, iron, and vitamins that protect the body from pellagra. This makes dates a complete food.

Pellagra is the state of the body when it experiences B3 deficiency. Characteristics of people who experience it, are suffering from dermatitis, diarrhea, and dementia. B3 is a vitamin to maintain the health of nerve cells, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. This is why dates become a complete intake.

While pomegranates, their pulp and juice contain citric acid. It is effective against uric acid and prevents the formation of kidney stones. The sweetness is good for the stomach, beneficial for the throat, chest and lungs.

The water produced from pomegranates is also laxative. Its acids are useful for stomach infections, are diuretic and treat diarrhea and can prevent vomiting.

Pomegranates contain sugars that are easily absorbed by the body so that they quickly produce energy in the body. Pomegranate can provide protection to the body from cancer and heart disease. Even the peel of this pomegranate can be used to eliminate tapeworm disease.

2. Grapes

Allah (swt) mentions the grapes of the Quran 11 times as part of an explanation of the enumeration of favors bestowed upon His servants in the world and in the Hereafter.

The grapes of these are mentioned in Surah Yasin verse 34, and An Naba verse 31-32. Allah (swt) said: “And We made it gardens of dates and grapes and We showered on it some springs. That they may eat of its fruit, and of what their hands strive for. Why are they not grateful?” (QS Yasin verses 34-35)

In other ayah, wine is also mentioned as a victory gift for those who are pious. Allah (swt) said: “Indeed, the pious have the victory of the orchards and the grapes.” (QS An Naba verses 31-32)

The properties of grapes include lowering cholesterol levels in the body. Contributes to improving arterial and heart health. Grapes also help to smooth the digestive process. Grapes are considered to be factors that help the functioning of the intestines, muscles and nerves, as well as regulate fluid balance in the body.

Grapes are fruits with a myriad of properties for the health of the body. In fact, wine is one of the fruits of paradise that thrives and spreads widely in heaven. The fruits dangle so that they are easy to pick by the inhabitants of heaven.

Grapes are mentioned specifically because this fruit is popular among the inhabitants of paradise. The fruits grow dangling so that it is only an ease for the inhabitants of heaven to reach them. The expanse of the vines is as vast as it has been seen in the life of the world.

Grapes are really good fruits and give maximum health to the body. There are a myriad of benefits and properties that it has. One of them, grapes are able to reduce cholesterol levels in the body.

Consuming grapes means improving the health of blood vessels or arteries and the heart and helping to smooth the digestive process. Thus, grapes are efficacious to help nourish bowel, muscle and nerve function.

Grapes control fluid balance in the body. Helps prevent infectious diseases and various infections especially arthritis. The acids contained in grapes improve oral and dental health.

Grapes are also effective against constipation because their content softens the stomach. At the same time regulate it so as not to reach excessive amounts, which can harm humans.

3. Banana

Bananas are mentioned once in the Quran. Allah (swt) said: “And the rightist, who is the right? (They) are between the thornless bidara tree, and the banana tree that is stacked (its fruit).” (QS. Al Waqiah verses 27-29).

In Indonesia, according to data from the Central Statistical Agency (BPS), Indonesia produced 9.24 million tons of bananas in 2022. That was up 5.72% from a year earlier which stood at 8.74 tonnes.

East Java was the largest national banana producer last year, reaching 2.62 million tons. This amount reached 28.35% of the total banana production in Indonesia in 2022.

The benefits of bananas for health, namely to cope with most diseases of the digestive system. Such as constipation which lowers the acidity of the stomach, and is a treatment for depression.

Eating one banana daily contributes to reducing the risk of asthma that can affect people who have it.

The mention of At-Talh (banana) in this verse of the Quran describes happiness and enjoyment in heaven. In scientific studies, bananas have many properties for the health of the body.

Bananas can treat most diseases associated with the digestive system. For example, constipated diseases that lower stomach acid.

Bananas can help overcome the depression that a person is suffering from. The properties of bananas are also mentioned in the book of tafsir by Ibn Al Qayyim Al Jauziyah, when interpreting verse 29 of Surah Al Waqiah.

In the book it is mentioned, most tafsir say that At-Talh in the verse is a banana (Al Mawz).

Ibn Al Qayyim Al Jauziyah also explained that the best bananas are ripe and sweet ones. It is efficacious to provide lung health. Also helps to cope with health problems such as cough. In addition, bananas are also useful for dealing with health problems of the kidneys, bladder, and urination.

Not only that, in the book of Ibn Al Qayyim Al Jauziyah it is also stated that bananas are effective in increasing semen and stimulating sexual desire.
