REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Member of the Tambrauw Peace Love (Cinta Damai) Young Intellectual Forum, Yohanis Mambrasar, said the residents of Tambrauw, West Papua province, reject the military presence in their area.

This rejection was carried out by a demonstration by the Tambrauw Student and People's Association against the Military at the Tambrauw Regency DPRD Office in Fef District, Tambrauw Regency, Wednesday (14/4).

"The demonstrators demanded that the Indonesian government withdraw all TNI troops from Tambrauw. The residents stated that they rejected the construction of the Kodim, Koramil, Babinsa and Satgas throughout Tambrauw," said Yohanis Mambrasar in his short message, Thursday (15/4).

Apart from that, said Yohanis, the demonstrators also urged the TNI to immediately process the punishment for the TNI personnel who perpetrated the violence against Moses Yewen. Also, they urged the government and TNI to close or disband the Kodim, Koramil-Koramil, Babinsa-Babinsa and Satgas-Satgas.

The Tambrauw residents' demonstration was received directly by the Regent of Tambrauw Regency Gabriel Asem and his staff.

"The regent stated that he would facilitate a joint meeting between the government, the House of People's Representatives (DPR), demonstrators' representatives, the Dandim, and the Head of Police to discuss the aspirations of the Tambrauw residents," said Yohanis Mambras
