REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto headed to the area affected by the flash flood disaster on Sumatra Island on Monday (1/12/2025) around 6:00pm. From Base Ops Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta, RI 1 took off towards Raja Sisingamangaraja XII Airport, Tapanuli Utara Regency, North Sumatra Province as a form of rapid government response in ensuring all disaster management efforts are running optimally.
During the visit, Prabowo was given a direct review of the conditions on the ground, including the situation at damaged points and disruption of basic services. Prabowo will also ensure that emergency measures have been implemented according to the standards of prompt, appropriate and coordinated disaster management.
The government is also preparing steps to restore basic infrastructure, including access roads, bridges, energy, telecommunications, and health services. Earlier, Prabowo had called on the entire ranks to work quickly on handling the disaster so that the impact of the disaster could be minimized.
The entire emergency management process is expected to be more coordinated and provide reassurance to the public that the state is present in disaster management. The government also urged the public to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of the authorities on the ground as the potential for extreme weather is still possible.
Accompanying the President in the review of the disaster area were Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Letkol Inf Teddy Indra Wijaya.
