JAKARTA -- The Indonesian presidential election is still quite far away but the heating has been run since now. A number of survey institutions have explored strong enough figures to become the people's choice as president of Indonesia in the 2024 presidential election.
This weekend, Charta Politika Indonesia announced the results of a survey of Indonesia's presidential candidates in 2024. The Charta Politika survey in the first quarter of 2021 showed that Prabowo Subianto, chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), was the presidential candidate who received the most votes. Prabowo won 19.2 percent of the total 1,200 respondents.
Executive Director of Charta Politika Indonesia Yuniarto Wijaya said there were new names emerging as presidential candidates, namely Tri Risma who is currently the minister of social affairs, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Mahfud MD, Moeldoko, and others.
The figure who ranks second after Prabowo is Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo with 16 percent of votes, followed by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan 12.6 percent, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia Sandiaga Uno 9.3 percent, and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. 8.1 percent.
Other figures who received votes in the survey included Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini with 5.3 percent of the vote, General Chairperson of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono 4.8 percent, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD 3 , 8 percent, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir 2.1 percent, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko 1.3 percent, Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani 1.2 percent, and Gatot Nurmantyo 0.6 percent.
In the presidential election simulation with the top five names, Prabowo is still ahead with 22.2 percent of votes, Ganjar Pranowo 20 percent, Anies Baswedan 14.2 percent, Sandiaga Uno 12.7 percent, and Ridwan Kamil 9.2 percent.
