REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- The Yogyakarta City Government has tightened the implementation of the Covid-19 prevention health protocol during the holiday period at the end of October 2020. In fact, sanctions are imposed for tourists who violate health protocols.

Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta, Heroe Poerwadi said that the government carried out routine justice operations related to enforcement of health protocols. This operation is carried out by giving warnings to sanctions against tourists, the public, and business actors who do not apply health protocols.

"For those who are prosecuted, the sanctions can be reprimands, social sanctions, and a fine of Rp 100,000. You (tourists) certainly don't want to make memories of being subject to social sanctions while on vacation in Yogya, such as having to sweep the road," said Heroe, Saturday (24/10).

Heroe appealed to tourists who come to Yogyakarta to apply health protocols with discipline so that the spread of Covid-19 does not expand, especially in the city of Yogyakarta.

Moreover, positive cases of Covid-19 in Yogyakarta increased after the mid-August 2020 holiday. Meanwhile, the number of tourists is predicted to increase during the holidays at the end of October 2020.

The government is also trying to maximize the enforcement and supervision of health protocols. Hopefully, the health protocol can be implemented properly, including during the holidays.

"The Yogyakarta City Covid-19 Task Force has created safe and comfortable conditions by examining hotels, restaurants, cafes, tourist destinations, or other public and economic services so that health protocols are implemented properly in their environment," Heroe said.

The head of the Yogyakarta Special Region Health Service, Pembayun Setyaningastutie, appealed to tourists who are going on vacation outside the city to do a Covid-19 test first. Especially for tourists from outside the region who are going on vacation to Yogyakarta.

When traveling, the community is expected to carry out the inspection independently. The purpose and goal are for the good of our own families so that we know early on what is happening to our condition, " said Pembayun.
