REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was not expected to participate in a meeting between his political rival who also Gerindra Party general chairman Prabowo Subianto and Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) general chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri. According to the source, the meeting will be only attended by those two political figures and their team. 

“The meeting is only between Mrs Megawati and Mr Prabowo,” said PDI-P secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto on Wednesday (July 24). 

Hasto said the two figures will also have a lunch together in the meeting. He revealed that maybe Megawati will be accompanied by her daughter, who also Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani, while Prabowo will be accompanied by Prananda Prabowo. 

Furthermore, Hasto said a number of political figures would also participate in the meeting, such as National campaign team Indonesia Work Coalition (TKN KIK) secretary, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and ranks of Gerindra Party officials. 

“Of course we will accompany them (Megawati dan Prabowo),” Hasto added. 

Hasto said specifically Jokowi did not leave a message related to Megawati and Prabowo meeting. However, he revealed the most important thing is a good communication in every meeting. 

“In every important meeting, Mrs Mega will communicate with Mr Jokowi,” Hasto said. 

Meanwhile, Jokowi was scheduled to welcome Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE)  Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan at Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java. He also had discussion with the ranks of UAE government.
