REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- The Prosecutor of the Riau High Prosecutor's Office has scheduled to present ustaz Abdul Somad following an inaugural session of the case of alleged defamation and insult against himself held at the Pekanbaru District Court, in Riau Province, on Thursday. Ustaz Somad will be summoned next week as a witness for defendant Joni Boy.

"We have to call for victim first," said Prosecutor Syafril in Pekanbaru on Thursday (Feb 7).

However, Syfaril had not been able to ascertain whether ustaz Somad could meet the summon, considering his tight schedule. Meanwhile, in his indictment, the Prosecutor explained that Boy uploaded a statement that insult the famous preacher on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at around 12.00 West Indonesian Standard Time (WIB)  at his house on Jalan Kelapa Sawit Gang Dolok I, Tangkerang Labuai Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru..

"Defendant Jony Boy posted the writing or news on his social media account, Facebook, addressed to ustaz Somad," Syafril said before the panel of judges presided over by Astriwati, accompanied by judges Basman and Mangapul.

Jony mentioned ustaz Somad as 'descendant of Dajjal'. He also threathened to rip off ustaz Somad's mouth. In addition, Joni also included writing on UAS' photo using capital letters. "I finally succeeded to destroy the harmony of inter religions," he wrote.

"The defendant posted the article so that it could be seen by many people," Syafril said.

The article was seen by witness Delfizar, Nurzen and Muhammad Khalid on Facebook on September 4, 2018. The post was also seen by ustaz Somad on September 5, 2018, while he was in South Sulawesi for attending Tabligh Akbar.

"According to the expert, the sentences posted by the defendant was meant to say that ustaz Abdul Somad is an uncivilized person who has no courtesy or modesty. It means that he accuses and assumes ustaz Abdul Somad as a person who has no politeness and has a bad influence," Syafril said.

Ustaz Somad felt unhappy over Joni's statement as his name and character were defiled. He then filed a police report against Joni to the Special Criminal Directorate of Riau Regional Police.
