REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The national campaign team (TKN) of the presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Ma'ruf Amin pair asserted that his party began an offensive campaign based on data and facts. TKN said they had to be offensive as
its contender tended to accuse them without accurate data.
"So, it is appropriate for our legal team to report offensively supported with facts and data," said TKN Chief Erick Thohir in a press statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday (Feb 6).
According to Erick, his side had brought data and facts about campaign violations in every reports filed to Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu). However, the reports were said as criminalization by their political rivals.
"They cannot distinguish between criminalization and enforcement of legal facts. I need to emphasize this to be fair," Erick explained.
Previously, on Tuesday night (Feb 5), presidential candidate number 01 Jokowi explained that his party needed to conduct an offensive campaign.
"Yes, the campaign is indeed offensive. We've already worked 4 years and we can not keep quite," Jokowi said in South Jakarta.
In addition, according to Erick, in the last few days Jokowi only conveyed his feelings. He said that the current issues had often been twisted from the actual conditions.
Erick mentioned the issue of Jokowi as a foreign stooge, linkages with the Indonesia Communist Party (PKI), as well as the issue of the Chinese stooge, as examples.
"So, if now he answers (these accusations), it's normal. Because, if he doesn't answer, then the defamations will be considered true. Strangely, when he answered, they said that he was panick and afraid. He was actually conveying data and facts that had been twisted," Erick said.
