REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government will reopen the recruitment of a total of 100 thousand prospective civil servants (CPNS) in June 2019. The focus remains on recruiting 100 thousand education and health personnel, focusing more on it, Syafruddin, Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform, stated at the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Thursday.

He noted in a meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday that he had reported on evaluating the implementation of CPNS 2018 recruitment.

"I have reported the evaluation of the CPNS recruitment, and I am just waiting for the NIP. In 2019, we will also re-implement the recruitment, but it will be six months later," he revealed.

When asked whether the results of 2018 recruitment were not enough, the former Deputy Police Chief noted that in 2018, there were civil servants who were entering retirement.  He noted that in 2018, the number of retired civil servants was 50 thousand people, and in 2019, it was 52 thousand.

"So we have to pursue to maintain a balance and not to recruit too many honorary staff. We will complete the current honorarium with the route of Government Employees with Employment Agreements or First Aid," he remarked.

He added that 150 thousand people, especially teachers, were needed. "According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, we still lack around 91 thousand teachers," he stated.

Meanwhile, regarding the provision of fixed income for village officials on par with the Group II a PNS, Syafruddin revealed that Jokowi had asked for this to be followed up immediately.

"We want to use this meeting at the Coordinating Minister for PMK's Office to discuss that. I and the Minister of Finance will immediately go there," he noted.
