REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Jakarta Police investigated criminal element in presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto’s words about Boyolali face. Police received the report last week.

“There is one report, we will check whether this is crime or not, if not we will stop the investigation,” said Jakarta Police spokesman Argo Yuwono on Monday (Nov 5).

Argo said the incoming report will be evaluated by investigator first. Jakarta Police then will coordinate with Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) related to the case.

“We will communicate with Bawaslu, whether this is a crime or not,” Argo added.

Prabowo said a controversial statement when attending the inauguration event of National Winning Agency (BPN) or his success team office in Boyolali, Central Java on last Oct 30. His words went viral on Youtube and made several people were angry.

“If you try to enter (these hotels), you will probably be kicked out. Your faces are not that of rich people, your faces are just that of Boyolali people, right?” said Prabowo.

The joke was met with laughter from the audience. But it failed to amuse netizens on social medias, especially those claiming to be proud Boyolali people.

Accompanied by Muannas Aladid as his lawyer, one of Boyolali people namely Dakun reported Prabowo to Jakata Police. Dakun said he was offended by Prabowo’s words.

“Mr Dakun is a Boyolali resident who choose to report Prabowo related to the words,” Muannas said.
