REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TIMIKA -- A mountain climber guide, Andika Pratama (34), died at the Carstensz Mountain Peak, Papua Province on Saturday. His body was sent to Bandung, West Java on Sunday afternoon.
Andika Pratama died after being hit by a rock during training before accompanying some foreign climbers, according to Sofyan Arie Fiesa, one of the victim's friends on Sunday.
Sofyan told Antara that Andika's body would be dispatched to Bandung city by air through Garuda Indonesia flight from Timika at 02:40 p.m. local time.
"Andika's body is planned to arrive in Jakarta at 7 a.m. and proceed by land to a funeral area in Bandung," Sofyan remarked.
Andika along with three of his colleagues accompanied six foreign climbers from Russia and Azerbaijan since October 29 to conduct the Carstensz Peak climb, one of the world's highest peaks.
