REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BELITUNG -- Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya believes that there are a number of destinations in Belitung can be very attractive to nomadic tourists. He named Tanjung Kelayang as example.
"Building Special Economic Zones such as in Nusa Dua and Mandalika will require a lot of time. Belitung is more fitting to be turned into a destination with a nomadic tourism concept," Yahya stated at the Eco Beach Tent Bay Billiton Tanjung Kelayang, Belitung, on Monday.
He was optimistic that the nomadic tourism concept can become a permanent solution for Belitung.
Nomadic tourism involves activities or businesses that coincide with the lifestyle and traditions that are always on the move using glam camps, home pods, and caravans as accommodation facilities.
"With 75 thousand villages and more than 17 thousand islands such as Belitung, consisting of smaller islands, it will take a lot of time if we develop them with conventional measures. Building a nomadic concept can be the solution," he added.
He believed that Belitung holds a great potential to become a nomadic tourism destination, as it is rich in natural beauty and can be attractive for high-end tourists as well.
"The market is vast, there is a potential of 21 million to 35 million foreign tourists from around the world for nomadic tourism," he remarked.
For that reason, he encouraged tourism investors to not hesitate in making investments in Bangka Belitung Province through the concept of Nomadic Tourism.
In Belitung's Tanjung Kelayang, for example, the concept of nomadic tourism and the Eco Beach Tent by Billiton have been operating since May this year.
Eco Beach Tent expanded the glam camp model with the tagline 'Reconnect with Nature,' featuring a variety of supporting facilities of a five-star hotel, and is environmentally friendly.
