REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Musician-turned-politician Ahmad Dhani would not lose his post in National Winning Agency (BPN) or the success team of Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno pair. He would not be dismissed although he has been named as suspect in defamation case.

Gerindra Politician who is also BPN steering committee member Fadli Zon stated that on Tuesday (Oct 23). “No, he won’t (be dismissed) because since the beginning Ahmad Dhani participates in BPN. We appreciate the legal process against him,” said Fadli.

Instead, according to Fadli, BPN will continue to defend Ahmad Dhani in his defamation case. He asserted that BPN did not feel disturbed by legal case against Ahmad Dhani.

“We will defend whenever possible to seek justice,” Fadli added.

He considered there was an injustice in Ahmad Dhani case. Fadli asked East Java Police to be observant in seeing the case.

"So I think it is clear that this is a criminalization of our law. East Java Police must see clearly, so they won’t become political tool,” Fadli said.

Ahmad Dhani defamation case started ahead of #2019ChangePresident event on last August in Surabaya, East Java. He could not leave the hotel to join #2019ChangePresident declaration with a group of people protesting his arrival in Surabaya.

Ahmad Dhani then was examined at East Java Police headquarter on Oct 1 as witness. On Oct 18, he was named as suspect in defamation case.

Ahmad Dhani failed to meet East Java police summon on Tuesday. However, he pledged to come on Friday (Oct 26).

"East Java Police would summon him by force if he did not come on Friday," Spokesman of East Java Police Frans Barung Mangera said at his office on Tuesday.
