REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Santri Alliance filed a police report against social media activist Denny Siregar to Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police (Bareskrim), Jakarta, on Thursday (Sept 27). The report was filed over Denny's comment on his personal Twitter account about the death of Persija fan Haringga Sirila.

"We report Denny Siregar to Bareskrim for alleged blasphemy and violation to information and electronic transactions (ITE) law," Coordinator of Indonesian Santri Alliance Maulidan Akbar.

Along with the report, Maulidan submitted three evidences in the form of three screenshots of Denny's comments on kalimah tawheed. In his Twitter account, on Sept 24, Denny said, "Those supporters claimed other people's life while performing dhikr, Laa Illaha Illallah (There is no God but Allah)...I don't know what is in their minds. Is it because of the frequency of seeing ISIS slitting humans?"

Maulidan said Denny's statement has insulted Islam. Moreover, Denny linked kalimah tawheed with violence.

Meanwhile, attorney of the alliance, Muhammad Fayyad, showed optimism on the police performance. He believed the police will be professional in investigating the case.

Fayyad also urged the police to find perpetrator who edited the video of Haringga's death by putting kalimah tawheed. He heard from one of police officers in West Java that Denny himself edited the video.

"I did not hear it from the community, but a high rank police officer in West Java," he said.

Earlier, West Java police denied there was ‘Laa Ilaha Ilallah’ sentence shouted during the attack on Haringga. The conclusion was made after investigating the case.

“There was no (tawheed sentence shouted). Don’t bring any issue in this incident,” said Wast Java Police spokesman Trunoyudho Wisnu Andiko when confirmed by Republika.co.id, on Tuesday (Sept 25).

Trunoyudho called on the people to not draw any issues into Haringga’s death case, especially tribal affiliation, religion, race, and societal groups (SARA) issues. He ensured the case was purely a criminal case.

“West Java Police is objective, proportional and professional based on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) for the investigation and further investigation process," Trunoyudho added.
