REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Johan Budi has resigned from his postition as the spokesman for incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - KH Ma'ruf Amin national campaign team in the next year's presidential election. He revealed that he has submitted resignation around 10 days ago.
"I want to focus on my candidacy in the legislative election 2019," the lawmaker candidate of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) stated when contacted by Republika.co.id, on Monday.
Moreover, Johan explained he has not resigned from the position of presidential special staff on communication. He asserted that his duties were very time-consuming and drained his mind.
According to Johan, being a spokesperson for national campaign team made him had to juggle with time allocation as he obliged to follow all events of the team. "Of course, it requires a lot of time," he said.
Johan has no clue who would be his successor. The former spokesman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the national campaign team has the authority to determine it.
"Please ask Mr Hasto Kristiyanto (secretary of national campaign team for Jokowi-Kiai Ma'ruf)," he remarked.
Hasto refused to comment on Johan's resignation. He needed to confirm it first before explaining Johan's status.
"We will confirm later about Johan Budi," he said.
