REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- Indonesia plans to put forth a proposal to be a candidate to host the Olympics in 2032, according to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He believed Indonesia would be able to organize the biggest multi-sports event.
"With the experience we have in organizing the 18th Asian Games, we are confident that Indonesia can also be able to host a bigger event," the president noted during a press conference with President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach and Asian Olympic Council President (OCA) Skeikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Sabah at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Saturday.
Jokowi remarked that the meeting with the IOC president and OCA president aimed to discuss the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games that was hosted by Indonesia. "They were impressed by Indonesia's success in organizing the big event of the 18th Asian Games in 2018," President Jokowi noted.

The president revealed that their admiration was not only related to the organization but also the participation of the community and volunteers, who in large numbers, were mobilized and could be organized. "I think this is the strong capital that we have in his opinion," the president pointed out.
In the meantime, Bach thanked President Jokowi for the warm welcome extended to him as well as the IOC and OCA delegates at the Bogor Palace. Bach also congratulated the president for the successful implementation of the Asian Games in Indonesia. "Hence, the IOC highly lauds Indonesia's nomination to host the 2032 Olympics owing to the success in organizing this Asian Games," he added.
