REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Australian Prime Minister Scott John Morrison was scheduled to visit to Indonesia on Aug 31. The visit took place week after being sworn in as prime minister.
"Indonesia becomes the first country to be visited shortly after he became prime minister," Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L. P. Marsudi stated at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Thursday.
She said Morrison's visit can be viewed as Australia's commitment to intensifying bilateral ties with Indonesia. During his visit to Indonesia, Morrison will discuss various issues with President Joko Widodo, especially on the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).
"One of the issues to be discussed is still in the context of how to finalize the negotiations on the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Partnership Agreement. However, most of it has been completed," she added.
The visit will demonstrate Australia's commitment to further enhancing cooperation with Indonesia, Marsudi noted. "As of today, we are still negotiating matters not related to the IA-CEPA. Just wait, whether negotiations in other sectors could be completed," he added.
