REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- All members of delegations to Sub-Regional Meeting on Counter-Terrorism were safe following a 7-magnitude quake in North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara at around 6.46pm on Sunday. However, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto has decided to cancel the meeting scheduled to begin on Monday due to the quake.
"All guests of the meeting are safe. Because of the earthquake we have decided to cance, the sub-regional meeting that will discuss terroris and let them return to their home countries," he said in a press release.
He said that it was during dinner to welcome the guests when the quake happened. He said he had had an opportunity to meet with Australia's minister of home affairs Peter Dutton.
"We have discussed several issues thoroughly with minister Dutton and we have also produced a joint communique stressing the importance of cooperation between the two countries," he said.
Bilateral meetings have also taken place with Myanmar's national security advisor, Singapore's minister of home affairs and New Zealand's minister of law.
