REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Seventh World Peace Forum will be held in Jakarta on August 14-16, 2018, Indonesian President's Special Envoy for Dialogue and Interfaith Cooperation and Civilization Din Syamsuddin stated. Some 100 world leaders, comprising clerics, intellectuals, policymakers, officials, bureaucrats, and other figures involved in peace issues, will be invited to attend the forum.
"We will also invite several heads of government or former heads of government, as well as Nobel peace winners to discuss the theme of world peace," Syamsuddin remarked here on Tuesday.
He explained that the World Peace Forum is a biennial agenda held since 2006 based on the main theme "One Humanity, One Purpose, One Responsibility." Held every two years, the event has several practical themes.
"For instance, the themes are related to peace, education, conflict resolution, and others. During this seventh forum, we will carry the theme of 'the Middle Way to the World Civilization,'" he pointed out.
The first session of the forum will feature a panel of leaders and Nobel prize winners, who will shed light on "the Middle Way for the World Civilization." At the next session, speakers will discuss the middle way from two perspectives of religious and national ideological views as well as the implementation of the two perspectives in economy, politics, and culture.
The Seventh World Peace Forum is a cooperation of the President's Special Envoy for Dialogue and Interfaith Cooperation and Civilization, Indonesian Center for Dialogue and Cooperation of Civilizations, and Cheng Ho Multiculture and Education Trust, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
