Ministry says pilkada results must be responded wisely

Simultaneous regional elections (pilkada) was held on June 27 in 171 regions.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Home Affairs said regional elections (pilkada) results in 171 regions in Indonesia must be responded wisely. According to the ministry spokesman Bahtiar said, in a contest, lose and win are natural, but it should be faced maturely.

“Because the competition will be remembered, so it should be good notes in the party of democracy,” said Bahtiar on Friday (June 29).

According to him, Ministry of Home Affairs urged winners in regional elections should not celebrate excessively. In politics, winning party should embrace the others. It because, a leader is chosen for all, not only for his/her supporters.

“Supporters of the winning party should not celebrate excessively,” Bahtiar added.

Ministry of Home Affairs asked those who have not been lucky yet in regional elections to refrain. They should accept the result sincerely.

However, if there was irregularity in elections, Bahtiar invited the people to take steps provided by the rules. The people, for example, may file lawsuit to Constitutional Court (MK).

Furthermore, when it comes to organizers' violations of ethics, the people can file complaints to the General Elections Administrator's Council (DKPP). Related to the violation in the election stage, there is already a supervisory committee.
