REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Angkasa Pura II (AP) II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin has forecast the homecoming flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport to peak two days before (H-2), on June 13, or three days before (H-3) Eid al-Fitr 2018. On Saturday, Awaluddin forecast a passenger surge of 240 thousand to 250 thousand on H-2 or H-3 on all national and international flights.

The number indicated an estimated increase by eight to nine percent in passengers as compared to the previous year. The estimated surge in passengers is influenced by several factors, such as easy accessibility to air transportation with the growing availability of production equipment and transportation facilities coupled with an increase in the purchasing power of society.

"It is since employees of private companies begin their holidays on June 13, 2018, but now, it is getting better due to the smooth distribution," he explained.

Furthermore, eight days before Eid al-Fitr, or on June 7, the number of passengers at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport will reach 204 thousand. In fact, the average number of daily passengers only reaches 180 thousand. Thus, there is an increase of some 24 thousand passengers, which is equivalent to 13 percent as compared to a regular day.

Awaluddin remarked that on H-2 or H-3, as the peak of the homecoming flow, the predicted surge in the number of passengers would reach 350 thousand at all airports managed by AP II, including Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"Hence, we must be on full guard on H-2 and H-3," he added.

Adequacy, capability, and competence of human resources as well as a review of the operational activities are being conducted to ensure increased convenience and better services to air travelers.

In addition, AP II has ensured the availability and reliability of services along with improved facilities and infrastructure. It had earlier conducted the assessment on June 1-6.
