REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Two blasts heard during trial of defendant in Thamrin bombing, Aman Abdurrahman alias Oman Rochman alias Abu Sulaiman bin Ade Sudarma on Friday (May 25). However, South Jakarta Police confirmed it was not bomb explosion, but a vat of chemical fluid exploded due to negligence of project workers across the street.
It's not a bomb nor part of terror attack but the explosion came due to a vat contains chemical fluid exposed by fire, said South Jakarta Police chief Indra Jafar on Friday (May 25).
The blast sparked clamour among the media crew and audiences. National Police's counterterrorism squad (Densus 88 ) asked all people in the courtroom to not panic. As the result of explosion, the trial was suspended for three minutes at 09:10 WIB (Indonesia West Standard Time).

Oman has been determined as suspect in Thamrin bombing case, Samarinda church bombing, and Kampung Melayu bombing. He was accused to have mastermind the terror incidents.
Previously, Oman has been sentenced for involvement in military training of Jamaah Islamiyah in Jalin Mountains, Aceh Besar in 2010. However, on Auguts 18, 2017 police appointed him again as suspect in Thamrin bombing.
Thamrin bombing happened on January 14, 2016. There were six bombs exploded at MH Thamrin boulevard in front of Starbucks coffee shop and a police traffic booth. As many as 24 people were injured and seven died in the attack.
Oman was considered violated Law No.15/2003 on Terrorism Eradication. Last week, prosecutors od South Jakarta District Court charged him with capital punishment.
