REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum filed judicial review (PK) for his 14 years imprisonment sentence in graft case. He was involved in gratification from Hambalang sport complex graft case, some other government projects and money laundering.

Judicial review is legal step provided for those who are looking for justice. Based on facts and evidences revealed on the trial, I feel the verdict is far from justice, said Anas at Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (May 24).

At the Corruption Court, Anas was sentenced eight years imprisonment and a fine Rp 300 million or three months confinement, plus the obligation to pay replacement money Rp 57,59 billion and 5,26 million US dollars. Meanwhile, at legal appeal level, he got lighter sentence that was seven years imprisonment.

However, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) filed cassation to the sentence. Supreme Court then aggravated Anas sentence to 14 years imprisonment and a fine Rp 5 billion or four months confinement, also with replacement money Rp 57,59 billion or four years confinement. He also lost his right to be elected as public officials.

"This is my time to file judicial review. For me, its a struggle to find justice," Anas added.

However, Anas has not submitted novum that he will submit in the trial. He only said in principle, judicial review must meet the terms.

Insya Allah (Gods will) I meet the terms as strong legal base and the details will be conveyed on the trial, Anas said.
