REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUNUKAN -- Malaysia has deported 315 more Indonesian migrant workers from Sabah. Among of them, 23 people deported for allegedly involved in drug cases and two in general crimes.

The remaining 290, deported on Thursday, were illegal migrants , working in Sabah without passports, the Nunukan Immigration Office, North Kalimantan, said here on Saturday.

Local police kept special record of the 23 workers deported on drug charge to prevent them from committing drug related crimes again when they are under the care of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection and Recruitment Agency (BP3TKI), a Nunukan Immigration officer Nasution said.

"Data of every Indonesian migrant worker deported on drug related charges via Nunukan are recorded for special control by police," Nasution added.

There are quite many Indonesian migrant workers found involved in drug related crimes.

Implication in drug cases accounts for the second largest number of Indonesian migrant workers deported from Malaysia, Nasution said, adding the main reason for deportation is illegal entry to Malaysia.

Malaysia has deported thousands of Indonesian migrant workers for having no passport.
