REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- Esteban Vizcarra, a football player from Argentina, has opted to become an Indonesian national. The Indonesian immigration directorate general had accepted his application to become an Indonesian national, Ucok Hidayat, manager of the Sriwijaya Football Club where Vizcarra has played so far, revealed here, Friday.

"All formalities have been completed, and Vizcarra is now officially an Indonesian citizen," he confirmed.

With Vizcarra becoming an Indonesian national, Sriwijaya FC will no longer face the issue of having excess foreign players. Of its total 29 players, only four are foreign nationals, and it is still in accordance with the existing regulation, he pointed out.

The four foreign players are Mahamamadou N'Diaye and Makan Konate from Mali, Manuchekhr Dzhalilov from Tajikistan, and Yu Hyun Koo from South Korea.

Hidayat was pleased with the Argentinean player opting to become an Indonesian national. The process was smooth and quite fast, he remarked.

As Vizcarra can now be called a local player, Sriwijaya FC can deploy its four foreign players in addition to Vizcarra in the upcoming league.

Before joining Sriwijaya FC, Vizcarra played for Erema FC of Malang, East Java Province.
