REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's export earning was 3.14 percent lower at US$14.1 billion in February, 2018 from US$14.55 billion in January this year. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) attributed the decline to shrinking exports of electrical appliances and machine and footwear and mineral fuel.

The export value, however, was still higher than US$12.61 billion in the same month last year, BPS chief Suhariyanto told reporters here on Thursday.

Exports of commodities other than oil and gas were valued at US$12.71 billion in February, down 3.96 percent from US$13.23 billion in January, but up 11.3 percent from the same month last year.

The largest buyer of non-oil/gas commodities was China, followed by the United States, and Japan.

Commodities other than oil and gas accounted for 90.13 percent of the country's export earning in February, 2018 with manufactured goods accounting for 72.38 percent, mining products for US$9.87 billion and farm commodities for 1.67 percent.

Cumulatively , the country's export earning was valued at US$28.65 billion in the first two-month of the year, or 10.13 percent larger than in the same period last year.

West Java recorded the largest export earning at US$4.95 billion or 17.26 percent, followed by East Java with export earning of US$3.05 billion and East Kalimantan US$2.90 billion.
