Jokowi urges Jatman to maintain national unity

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKALONGAN -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called on members of Jamiyah Ahlith Thoriqoh Al Mutabaroh An Nadliyah (Jatman), a Muslim mass organization, to maintain national unity.

"The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' (the national slogan that means Unity in Diversity), and Pancasila (state ideology) must be upheld to serve as a beacon of guidance for Indonesia," President Jokowi noted in his opening remarks during the 12th Congress of Jatman and Halaqoh Ulama Thoriqoh II, here, Monday.

The diversity of the nation that comprises 714 tribes, several religions, and some 1,100 local languages, is a blessing from the God Almighty that should be maintained and strengthened, according to the head of state.

Jokowi called on ulemas and members of Jatman to uphold Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, NKRI, and 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' as the keys to maintaining the nation's unity.

After the opening of the congress, President Jokowi distributed Indonesian Smart Cards and Hopeful Family Program cards to the local students and inhabitants.
