REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the former lawyer of e-ID card graft case defendant Setya Novanto, Fredrich Yunadi was allegedly cooperated with Bimanesh Sutarjo, an internist at Medika Permata Hijau Hospital to avoid his client from KPK summon. On Wednesday (January 10), KPK has named Fredrich and Bimanesh as suspects on alleged obstruction of justice case.
"Fredrich and Bimanesh allegedly worked together to falsify the treatment following accident that happened to Novanto, such as manipulated medical data in order to avoid KPK summon," said deputy chairman of KPK, Basaria Pandjaitan on Wednesday (January 10).
Basaria also shared the chronology behind the accident that made Novanto hospitalized in Medika Permata Hijau hospital, South Jakarta.
On November 15, 2017, KPK came to Novanto's house and also brought arrest and search warrant for him. However, Novanto did not show up until the search process finished at 02:50 am on the next day.
On November 16, 2017, KPK requested National Police to put Novanto on their wanted list (DPO). A few hours later, Novanto was informed had car accident.
"But, he (Novanto) was not brought to Emergency Room and directly to the VIP inpatient room. We believed, Fredrich as his lawyer at that time had come first to coordinate with the hospital," Basaria explained.
Fredrich and Bimanesh are suspected violated Article 21 No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Eradication of Corruption. Also they violated Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
