Jokowi, the first president to reach Rote Island

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) marked himself as the first Indonesian president to reach Rote Island. By visiting to Rote, he has traveled throughout the country from end to end. "No region being forgotten or being put aside," Jokowi said when giving a speech in front of the participants of the National Coordination Meeting of his supporters, Barisan Relawan Jokowi Presiden at Auditorium Tilangga, Rote District, East Nusa Tenggara, Monday (January 8).  

Jokowi reiterated his commitment to realize the development throughout the country. In the last three years, he added, the development has been intensively started from the border areas to the 3T (outermost, outer, backward) regions in Indonesia.

He said, it was in line with the mandate to make Indonesia as developed country. According to him, development has been done in many regions in Indonesia, not only in Java and Sumatra but also all areas from Sabang to Merauke. "Also Miangas to Rote," Jokowi said 

During his visit, Jokowi also conveyed the sovereignty that has been achieved by the government. Starting from the single-price fuel program throughout Indonesia, the eradication of illegal fishing, the return of the Mahakam block, to negotiations with PT Freeport that was still running.

Jokowi also mentioned Indonesia has potential of natural and human resources. He believed with all the wealth, this country would become one of the greatest countries in the world.
