REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, Zulkifli Hasan said his fraction has suggested Setya Novanto to step down from his position as House of Representatives speaker. He said, Novanto resignation will be better for the House and also the party that he led, namely Golkar party.
"If SN (Setya Novanto) resign, it will be good for SN, the Parliament and Golkar party," said Zulkifli who is also chairman of the National Mandate party at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta on Tuesday (November 28).
According to him, although the House's Honorary Council (MKD will conduct a hearing, if Golkar Party Faction is reluctant to make a change, then Novanto's position can not be replaced.
"MKD will conduct hearing, then Golkar does not propose (Novanto's resignation), so how it can be?" he said.
Therefore, Zulkifli returned the replacement issue of House speaker to Golkar Party Faction and Novanto's willingness. Other fractions could not insist on making the replacement.
"No other party can replace him. It's Golkar's rights. So it's good if SN resign. It's good for Golkar, the Parliament and himself," he said.
Earlier, the House of Representative vice speaker, Taufik Kurniawan said the Parliament leadership meeting which will discuss the tasks executor (Plt) of the Parliament speaker was still waiting for all Parliament leaders availability. Therefore, until now the leadership meeting has not been held, because some leaders are still abroad.
"We are still waiting from secretariat general. We still have a group that is still abroad. But the leaders meeting is routine, and of course it depends on the leaders bureau." he said.
