REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) revealed that currently there are 22 villages affected by the eruption of Mount Agung, Karangasem, Bali.
Head of BNPB's Data and Public Relations Center, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said, there are still many people who have not flee yet from those 22 villages.
"The number of people from these 22 villages who have to be evacuated is 90 thousand to 100 thousand people, but only 40 thousand people have been displaced," Sutopo said in a press conference at Jakarta, Monday (November 27).
The authority has increased dangerous zone of Mount Agung eruption within a radius of eight kilometers to 10 kilometers.
He ensured the team from BNPB still make efforts in assisting the evacuation.
"Officers are still carrying out sweeping and urge the people to evacuate," he explained.
Sutopo said, the efforts to evacuate residents should continue to be done because of the condition of Mount Agung is now in its highest alert status.
Under these conditions, there will be two threats, namely cold lava and incandescent lava.
He asserted, that the potential will continue to increase. "We urge that anyone who is still in dangerous zone to immediately evacuate, the possibility of higher eruption is getting bigger," said Sutopo.
A total of 22 villages affected by Mount Agung eruption are Ababi, Pidpid, Nawakerti, Datah, Bebandem, Jungutan, Buana Giri, Tulamben, Hamlet, Kubu, Baturinggit, Ban, Sukadana, Menaga, Besakih, Pempatan, Selat, Peringsari, Muncan, Amertha Bhuana, and Sebudi.
