REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TIMIKA -- Police in the district of Mimika in the Indonesian eastern province of Papua are investigating DR WFW (56), a German national who owned three skulls, which was recently confiscated at Timika airport.
"We are still investigating the case and considering the charges to be imposed on him," the chief of the Mimika resort police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Victor Mackbon, told Antara here on Saturday.
He stated that besides seeking charges on the possession of skulls from Asmat tribe region, the police are also seeking charges against him on the possession of an Indonesian ID card.
DR. WFW has an ID card produced by the civil registry and population service in Jayawijaya in 2015, while in fact, he is a foreign citizen, he noted.
He added that investigators have already coordinated with the immigration service in Timika in connection with the illegal use of ID card.
The case was discovered when the three skulls were to be sent to Denpasar, Bali, on Oct 31 as local fruits "buah merah" and "sarang semit," as well as Asmat sculptures, through Moses Kilangin airport in Timika.
