REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The data and analysis from the book titled ‘the Other Side of KPK and anti-Corruption Agencies’ Accountability: facts and analysis’ by the Center of Independent Studies (LPIKP) on May 2016 was revealed. 

Former LPIKP’s Director Romli Atmasasmita shared some twits on his personal Twitter account @rajasundawiwaha on June 30. The data showed that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) had been deviated from its initial tasks.  

Responding the information, Chairman of ICW Adnan Topan said it was weird that Romli revealed the data after an inquiry right against KPK was issued by the House of Representatives (DPR). He ensured that, until the book was published, the author never clarified the information to ICW.

“It is published last year, but it is just been revealed after the inquiry right. I don’t know whether there was a relation between the report and the inquiry right. But Romli is one of the expert on law to be asked for opinion about the inquiry,” he said to Republika.co.id on Saturday (July 1).

However, ICW was open to any critics on its performances. Those would be an input for the agency to be better.

Adnan also regretted the book that troubled the grants for ICW. He said it was common for an institution, including state institution, house of representatives, police, supreme court, national development agency and others.

"If it is said to be not transparent, it is wrong. Our financial report always been published on our website. The data mentioned in the book can be accessed on our website,” he said.

The book also stated to give misguided conclusion.There was a point stated that ICW had accepted KPK. It was said as a slander, as so far ICW and KPK never conducted any cooperation.

“Officially there was no cooperation. When we were accused to do a data game with KPK, we then did cooperation with other institutions,” he said.
