64 Clubs Appeared in 2026 President's Cup. Erick Thohir: Evidence of Grassroots Unifying Football

The matches will be held simultaneously in 16 different cities across Indonesia.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesian football has made a new history again. The 2026 Presidential Cup, which enters its eighth edition, is sure to be the grandest stage for grassroots football in the country.

Regardless, the prestigious tournament will involve 64 Liga 4 clubs representing 38 provinces across Indonesia. PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir expressed his appreciation for the implementation of national scale football field drawing that proves football as a unifying tool of the nation that must be built from the most basic foundations.

“The involvement of 64 clubs from 38 provinces in this year's Presidents Cup is proof that football is a unifying tool and must be built from the grassroots,” he said in an official statement on Thursday (14/5/2026).

Erick also expressed his gratitude to Maruarar Sirait as Chairman of the Steering Committee (SC) who continues to escort the President's Cup from its first edition to the present day.

The drawing of the 2026 President's Cup was held on Wednesday, May 13. A total of 64 National League 4 clubs have been divided into 16 groups (Group A to Group P). The games will be held simultaneously in 16 different cities across Indonesia, from May 30 to June 11, 2026.

“We think how this football is not only built from the grassroots, but we also have to benchmark the quality of our clubs with other countries. Champions from the Regents Cup, the Mayor's Cup, to the Governor, it all comes down to the Presidents Cup. It is a container for the clubs that have been the backbone of our grassroot development,” he explained.

From the western end to the east of the archipelago, young football talents have a large stage at national level to show their abilities.
