REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) revoked the marketing authorization of four brands of Korean instant noodles containing pork. The brands were Mi Instan Samyang rasa U-Dong, Mi Instan Samyang rasa Kimchi, Mi Instan Nongshim varian Shin Ramyun Black, and Mi Instan Ottogi varian Yeul Ramen. Those were imported by PT Koin Bumi.

Head of BPOM Penny Kusumastuti Lukito said the importer had broken the rules. When registering their brands, they declared that the products were not containing pork and its derivatives.

"If they contain pork, they should tell us when they registered. We will give different registration number for pork and non pork,” Penny said to Republika.co.id on Sunday (June 18). 

Penny added, after getting the registration number and license for import, the importers sent different products. The information of pork contents in four instant noodles product were collected after post-market.

Penny said there were also some people reported the products. Checking and laboratory tests proved the product positively contained pork.

BPOM had communicated with PT Koin Bumi. It asked the importer to take all products back from markets. The products were being illegal.

BPOM letter No. IN.08.04.532.06.17.2432 on June15 stated, based on the sampling and test to Korean instant noodles, some products were proven to contain DNA fragment of pig. But they don't mention “contain pork” on the label.
