REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SIDOARJO -- Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has urged the Juanda International Airport management company PT Angkasa Pura-I in Surabaya, East Java, to improve vigilance during the Lebaran mass exodus 2017.
"The arrival of Lebaran holiday travelers will peak at the Juanda Airport on June 20-23, and thus, we have called on the airport management company to stay vigilant," Sumadi remarked while monitoring the Terminal 1 of the Juanda Airport on Thursday.
Apart from intensifying vigilance activities, the Juanda Airport has also increased the number of security personnel to 800 people to ensure security at the airport during the Lebaran holiday season this year.
Speaking in connection with the flight delays, the transportation minister noted that he will continue to communicate with the airline companies to set their flight schedules appropriately.
"Communication will continue to be maintained. It is good that the Juanda Airport has been operating for 24 hours, so there will be no problem during the Lebaran holiday mass exodus," the minister stated.
In addition to reviewing the Terminal 1 of the Juanda Airport, the transportation minister also inspected the Purbaya bus terminal and Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya.
