REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian hajj pilgrims were dominated by high risk groups, said Secretary General of Ministry of Religious Affairs Nur Syams. He said the numbers reached 62 percents.

"They were old people over 75 year old and they got degenerative diseases,” said Nur Syam to Republika.co.id on Wednesday (June 7).

He said it was similar to the last year. Ministry of Religious Affairs, Health Ministry, and Commission VIII of the House of Representatives held routine meeting to discuss the preparation for this, including the preparation of medical staffs in every group.

“We synergize and coordinate to keep them,” said Nur Syam.

Nur Syam added that 221 thousands of Indonesian hajj pilgrims would be departed in 508 groups. The number of medical staffs and couching teams reached 2.540 people.
