Tomohon festival to promote seven wonders of city

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) 2017, to be held on Aug 7-12 in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi Province, aims to promote "The Seven Wonders of Tomohon," Tomohon Mayor Jimmy F. Eman stated here, Monday.

"The international flower festival emphasizes that Tomohon has the natural beauty of seven mountains, seven lakes, and seven waterfalls," the mayor remarked.

Tomohon's mountainous tourist sites, such as Lokon, Empung, Tatawiran, Mahawu, Tampusu, Masarang, and Kasuratan; the seven lakes of Linow, Tampusu, Pangolombian, Sineleyan, Panunuzaen, Linow Oki, and Kasewean; as well as seven waterfalls, such as Rinokrok Tapahan, Tumimperas, Regesan, Ranowawa, TekaanTelu, Kanderawatu, and Kinapesutan are being promoted as part of the TIFF 2017.

"Tomohon City, with its natural uniqueness and floriculture, is a breathtaking hidden paradise," the mayor emphasized.

The TIFF 2017 features five main programs including the Tournament of Flowers to be held on Aug 8 featuring a parade of decorated vehicles with representatives from several neighboring countries as well as provinces, districts, and cities from across Indonesia in addition to state-owned and private companies.

In addition, a contest of the queen of flower will be held on Aug 7-10, while the Tomohon Flower Carnival will be organized on Aug 8 featuring a flower-themed fashion show to display creative outfits designed by local and national designers.

An art and cultural attraction will be held on Aug 8-12, while a Tourism, Trade, Investment, and Floriculture Expo will be organized on Aug 7-12.

"The TIFF has become a window to showcase Indonesia, North Sulawesi, and Tomohon City as unique tourist destinations," the mayor noted.
