Temporary budget for regional election 2018 reaches Rp 14.3 trillion

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Temporary budget proposed for simultaneous regional election 2018 had reached Rp 14.3 trillion. The proposal came from 170 regions. 

"It includes the proposal from some big areas, such as Papua and East Java,” said the Chairman of General Election Commission (KPU) Arief Budiman in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (May 17). 

The proposal did not include the budget submission by Tegal City. KPU had not received the proposal from the city government. 

Arief said the total budget was bigger than the previous proposal submitted in the meeting with Commission II of the House of Representatives. The budget proposed at that moment was only Rp 11.3 trillion. 

Arief said it was not include the budget submission from 15 regions.  However, not all the budget would be approved. Only 70 percents of the budget submission in the previous regional election was approved. 

Among the 70 percents of proposals, only 60 percents of budgets was realized. It meant that the realization of the budget was about Rp 10 trillion. 

Arief gave an example, in the general election 2014, KPU submitted Rp 16.9 trillion budgets for legislative and presidential election. Onlyl Rp 13 trillion was realized. 

"Regional KPU arranged the budget proposal based on the reality of needs. It includes the financing of candidate pairs and campaign props. Revoting was not included in the budget,” he said. 

As information, the simultaneous regional election 2018 would be held on June 27. 171 areas from 17 provinces, 39 cities, and 115 regions would participate in it.
