JAKARTA -- The General Secretary of Amnesty International Salil Shetty gave an attention to the debate about Islam in the world. It was stated when he met the Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin.
He emphasized that Indonesia as the biggest Muslim majorities country in the world should have a strong voice in talking about religion. Shetty argued that the strong position was not only in the regional level but also in the international debate.
"Indonesia is very important in the international debate," said Shetty in Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday (March 22).
Shetty said he was sad for the Islam position within the international debate, especially because many people discredited Islam recently. He hoped Indonesia could share its voice in the international debate.
